About Me

Chertsey, Surrey, United Kingdom
Hello, I'm Jill - mother of three grown up children and wife to Geoff. I have been crafting one way or another for as long as I can remember. In the1990's I discovered quilling and in 2009 I began selling my quilled card designs online (https://folksy.com/shops/PaperDaisyCardDesign) - this continues to go from strength to strength. My blog "Paper Daisy Cards" features my handmade cards, quilled or otherwise! More recently I re-discovered rubber stamping and became an Independent Stampin' Up! demonstrator, showcasing and selling high quality paper crafting materials including rubber stamps, inks, cardstock, punches and dies. My blog "Paper Daisy Crafting" features my creations made with Stampin' Up! products, a list of all the papercrafting classes I run, all the latest news and offers and a link to my online shop , so that you too can join in the fun!

Quilled Valentine cards

Wow, is it really over a month since I last post on here? Bad blogger! To make up for my lack of posts, I have 5 cards to show you today, albeit very much variations on a theme. Early in January, I managed to find a little window of time to have a play and make some new Valentine cards designs. First, three cards with a little bit of beehive quilling...

And then a couple of cards with no quilling. Instead of the quilled heart I've used a die-cut heart cut from red glitter vinyl.

I'd love to know which one you prefer - leave me a comment. Thanks in advance,

Jill

Quilled chocolates

Hey there everyone,

I hope you've all had a fantastic Christmas and are looking forward to everything that the new year will bring. I'm a real sucker for making lots of New Year's resolutions (and then breaking them within a week!). One of my resolutions last year was to create and maintain this blog. I didn't manage to post as often as I would have liked to, but we're still here and I'm finishing off the year with this post!

These cards feature some really cute quilled chocolates. I made these at a workshop with Diane Boden a long time ago but have never really been able to work out what to do with them. I had an idea about using them for Valentine's cards but just could not get inspired about a layout. So a couple of days ago I just sat and played and this is what I came up with:

If you'd like to have a go at making these quilled chocolates, they are featured in Diane's book "Miniature Quilling". They look very realistic considering they are just made of paper!

Enjoy your New Year's celebrations,

Jill

Happy Valentine's Day

Just came across this short video on Twitter today. It's very apporopriate for today which is, of course, Valentine's Day. Just thought I'd share!!

Another Valentine's card

Good morning everyone. Did you all wake up to a blanket of snow this morning? I don't think we have as much snow as other places here in Surrey, but it's still very pretty. I'm just glad it's at the weekend, so that I don't need to get in the car - I hate driving in snowy or icy conditions. My children, despite being teenagers, are still excited each time it snows. The youngest one, Annie, who's 14, has wrapped herself up and gone off to "play" with her friends. I'm just making the most of the quiet to stay warm and get some crafting done. I'll just be on standby with hot chocolate when Annie returns!

Today's card is another one I made for a special order. One of my very best customers on my Folksy site asked if I could make a Valentine's card featuring a fish! Here is the card I came up with:

And from other angles:

What do you think? I had not considered using fish on a Valentine's card, but I'm quite pleased with how it turned out. I'd really like to play with the design a bit more. Maybe a more "Valentine-y" colour scheme (reds, pinks etc). And I might try making one with two fish with their lips meeting.

Let me know what you think.

I'll be back next week with another card and a Mother's Day giveaway I think. So be sure to come back then.

Til then, have a great week and stay warm!

Jill

Quilled Valentine's card

So how is your weekend going? Mine has been the usual round up of catching up with the washing, cooking, shopping, cleaning and tidying, along with a fair few "taxi" trips taking teenagers here, there and everywhere. I'll be off again in a minute to take the oldest one to work.

But thought I'd just quickly try to drop in here to show you a newly designed quilled Valentine card.

I had several ideas for Valentine's Day cards for this year but I haven't been able to find a minute to get them made. Although this design looks very simple, new designs always take ages to tweak and this was no exception.

I had a special request from a customer on Etsy this week, in fact the same one who ordered the teacup card I showed earlier.
"Can u make me a cute first birthday owl boy card and somehow integrate monkeys too?? I need this one quilckly as party is next saturday....I don't want one as expensive."
I very politely declined!  Makes me think that the amount of time that goes into quilled cards is not always appreciated.

Well that's it for me today. Enjoy the rest of the weekend!

Jill xx
