About Me

Chertsey, Surrey, United Kingdom
Hello, I'm Jill - mother of three grown up children and wife to Geoff. I have been crafting one way or another for as long as I can remember. In the1990's I discovered quilling and in 2009 I began selling my quilled card designs online (https://folksy.com/shops/PaperDaisyCardDesign) - this continues to go from strength to strength. My blog "Paper Daisy Cards" features my handmade cards, quilled or otherwise! More recently I re-discovered rubber stamping and became an Independent Stampin' Up! demonstrator, showcasing and selling high quality paper crafting materials including rubber stamps, inks, cardstock, punches and dies. My blog "Paper Daisy Crafting" features my creations made with Stampin' Up! products, a list of all the papercrafting classes I run, all the latest news and offers and a link to my online shop , so that you too can join in the fun!

Quilled graduation cards

Hello again everyone,

Wow, this is my third post in a week - can you tell I've been off work this week?

I've just spent a lovely Sunday morning, listening to Richard Madeley on Radio 2 and crafting away in my studio, coming up with some new designs for my Folksy and Etsy shops. This is the time of year when orders for graduation cards come rolling in and this design was inspired by a customer who wanted her card to feature a wise owl. Something stirred in the deeper recesses of my mind, reminding of a quilled owl design I used to make several years ago. I managed to find some photos of those designs.

Now, I wouldn't want my name associated with those cards these days - I think my design skills have improved somewhat. But the little quilled owl was a perfect pattern for what I needed.

This is the personalised card made for my customer:

I then started to play around to create a non-personalised card, as some customers do not want names, dates etc added. This card is smaller - 6" x 4", but I think I prefer it! What do you think?

And here are the two cards together, so that you can compare the sizes. In my mind, small is always more beautiful!!

Sadly no more time to play today - I have 6 orders to get made and I'd really like to get out in the sunshine for a little while!

Back soon,

Jill x

Quilled graduation card for girls

Hi there everyone,

Just dropping in quickly to show you this quilled card which I've just added to my Etsy shop. I've been making this design for a while now -

but recently have had requests if I could make one that was a bit more "girly". So this is what I came up with:

What do you think?

Sorry, short and sweet today!

Quilled graduation card 2

Just dropping in here very quickly, to show you the personalized version of the graduation card I showed you last week. It took me ages to format the message for this (using text boxes) but sorted it in the end!

I am now going to pop over to my Etsy shop and list this in there - seems to be graduation season in the US.

Thanks for dropping by today. So sorry I'm so unreliable about posting. The day job is really getting me down at the moment - so full on and so much to do. Ah well, maybe my lottery ticket will come up tonight!

Quilled graduation card

Hi everyone,

Oh my, late again! I'll try and make up for it by posting twice this week - as it's the school holidays I have a bit more time on my hands! Hope you all had a fantastic Bank Holiday weekend - a shame the weather wasn't a bit better.
Today I'd like to share another card which resulted from a special order. I was asked if I could make a quilled graduation card. Now this card may look very simple in design, but I'm always amazed at how long it takes me to come up with new designs.

If this card had been intended for a female graduate, I would have included some quilled flowers to pretty it up a bit, but as it was for the customer's son, I thought it best to avoid that. It took me ages to work out how to make a quilled mortar board look like the real thing - this is my 8th attempt!

I stamped stars on the navy background card with navy ink using an old Hero Arts stamp called "Star in star".  The greeting was composed using text boxes and fonts called Papyrus and Scriptina Pro - love both of those fonts.

Hope you like it - will be propducing a personalised version for the original customer.

Will be back later this week,

Jill
